When you move to Coimbatore for college or work, you'll usually choose between a college or company hostel, a private PG, or renting a flat with friends. None is right for everyone. The best choice depends on your budget, how much you want to manage yourself, and how long you'll stay.

When a college hostel makes sense
If your college has a hostel with a seat for you, it's convenient: you live on campus and the rules are set. The trade-offs are fixed timings, limited room choice and fees paid a semester or year at a time.
When a rented flat makes sense
A flat gives the most freedom and space. But in Tamil Nadu, landlords often ask for several months' rent as advance. You'll also pay for furniture, gas, electricity, internet and a cook or your own time in the kitchen, and you'll need reliable flatmates for the whole lease.
When a PG makes sense
A PG suits most people in their first year in a new city. You move in with a bag: bed, cupboard, Wi-Fi, water and meals are ready. You pay monthly, there's a warden on site, and you can change rooms or branches as your plans change.
At KPR Nest, rent starts at ₹4,000 a month without food and ₹8,000 with food. See rent at all five branches.
Our suggestion
Start in a PG close to your college or office. Spend a few months learning the city. If you later find flatmates you trust and want more space, you'll be choosing a flat with far better local knowledge.
